Welcome to Coveland Ventures!

Coveland Farms is located on the banks of the upper Hudson River- Champlain Canal in scenic Upstate New York. Just East of the world renowned Saratoga Springs, we are emersed in Revolutionary War history very near the site of the Battle of Saratoga, sited as the turning point of the revolution.

At Wilbers Basin in the former hamlet of Coveville, the farm is a prominent landmark standing since 1796. Originally built by Colonel Cornelius VanVeghten, friend to Philip Schuyler, on a plantation which had a mill, tavern and by accounts, the first store in town.

Coveville continued as an important shipping port on the Champlain Canal, a man made lock controlled barge canal that was used from Whitehall to Waterford to ship local goods to markets downstate and north to Canada.

Today in Coveville you will find a number of original houses, a tavern and a marina. The Hudson River offers some of the best sport fishing and recreation in the state and provides a navigable channel from Lake Champlain to New York City.

We came to Coveville in 1990 at which time we began the complete restoration of this stately greek revival and 18th century barns and grounds.

Most recently a dairy and horse farm, Coveland Farms is now our primary residence and home to our commercial ventures. No livestock but we have extensive perennial gardens and a spring fed pond, making this our piece of heaven on earth.

Best Regards
Jim Chamberlain
